History was made in Las Vegas as Raymond "Chip" Shiver, owner/operator of Sonitrol of Southwest (SW) Ohio, received the Lifetime Achievement Award. The award is given by the Sonitrol National Dealers Association (SNDA) every year. Mr. Shiver, of Mason, Ohio, received the esteemed award just eight years after his father, the late Rex Shiver, making it the first time the award has ever been received by both a father and son.
Loyal and honest, dedicated to work and family, and devoted to both the community and the SNDA, Mr. Shiver was an ideal candidate for the award. The awards take place each year and were held this April at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. A three-day event, SNDA members attend daily workshops to learn the latest in the security industry.
The last award to be announced, Bill McNabney, Education Chairman, took his spot at the podium as the presenter. He began by describing when he first met the recipient and then went on to describe his life and career. When Mr. Shiver was announced he was applauded by all in attendance.
"I am very much honored to be recognized in the same company as Sonitrol's founding fathers; they made Sonitrol possible," Mr. Shiver said. "I am as honored to be associated with each of you and the accomplishments we have achieved together."
Other awards won that night by Sonitrol of SW Ohio were the Circle of Ten Award and One of the Top 10 Dealerships in the Country. Mr. Shiver's son, Wesley Shiver, won a high sales award as well.
